On the illustration front I have had the honour of working for a lovely lady who has a Alpaca Ranch in Utah and have produced a range of illustrations for her to use on the Ranch in the shop and for her websites. Ill leave you with a sample illustration and go and try and update my neglected textile blog too... oh dear!!!

Well the good news is.............

I have a publisher! The contract is signed and the cards are for sale!!! The first group anyway as the publishers have taken a lot of designs.. Here is the link.. ( if you are a shop you can contact them, open an account and get at trade price...)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well what a wild start to 2012 wasn't it? makes you look forward to the summer!

I'm back home ready to seize the New Year and excited about the possible work ahead for me  Iv a  bit of a cold looming but I have much to do so I hope it doesn't keel me over.



I am hoping to put some nice  news on here in the next week about a possible first licensing deal with a card company so please watch this space! I'm hoping it wont be too long before you can purchase some of my artwork in card form in such places as Waterstones.. and online!

Happy In - between

I like this time of year the in - between time, the time  between Christmas and New Year.. everything is so quiet. Everyone has stopped rushing around and everyone is waiting for the next celebration and thinking of the hopes and dreams of the year to come. All of the Christmas madness is over and all is still... its a kind of magical time.. dont you think?

Two New Themes

Two new themes I'm working on this year are out of shape buildings and domestic kitchen designs these are aimed at art licensing and I will be developing these ideas for Olympia

I'm always working on ideas sometimes I just go half way with them leave them and go back and develop at a later stage, so for these kind of ideas I work small. Ill come back to these later in the year and show you what Iv come up with..

" Little bird BIG  heart"

Im working like mad filling up my new Etsy shop with originals this month so please visit from time to time if you should so wish!
Iv  suddenly got a lot of requests for artwork which I'm so happy about, some for paintings of all sizes  some from galleries for bigger work some for textiles.All this makes me very happy. I'm also putting the finishing work on the illustrations of a children's book too so busy days ahead for me... but that's how I like it to be after all I could be doing this full time soon.
Next month I shall be starting work on a whole new portfolio of designs to be launched at Brand Licensing in London in October. I may, if  all goes well be posting little tasters of work from time to time.. its going to be a busy year so please stick with me for the journey..

As we are heading for the month of love I thought I would paint some little mini  illustrations with this theme for my shop.

Iv a heap of new work to start and projects to think about. My days are going to be filled with developing ideas, Iv lots of exciting things on the horizon...

                                  

THOUGHTS OF WARMER DAYS

I am sitting here thinking about and longing for warmer summer days and the best way to imagine them is to start painting them..... !

NEW YEAR AND THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Like.... spring,warm sunshine, birds singing, long light evenings,walks in the country... I'm starting to think of new characters already and cant wait for the summer months ahead and the warmth to come back to my bones!!

ILLUSTRATIONS FOR CHILDREN

I spent a number of years painting for art galleries, and a real luxury it was too!
I'm not sure why or how it happened but probably when I was working on my sketches whilst out on the boat viewing the wildlife in some secluded bay, a place where I am more me, and my sketches were less about producing work that might look good on someones living room wall, and more about a reaction to my surroundings,the humour in wildlife, how birds and other animals interact with each other and their surroundings, and how most of the time they are pretty laid back about each other. I think this started off when I was feeding a swan and a seagull came along and landed on its back, I couldn't believe how the swan tolerated this, even putting up with the seagull when it pinched the odd bit of bread... I think because of this I started to produce work that was very much from my heart.

This is a little painting which I went on to produce from the ideas of animals working together, and one I am working on to take further into a portfolio of images.

GET WELL SOON! WRAP UP WARM!

I love to illustrate quirky birds, this little fella is keeping warm, after all we have got a  lot of snow in Scotland at the moment and he's feeling a little chilly. Design for a get well soon card.
